According to the legend, Hartalika Teej is celebrated because Goddess Parvati made the holy Shiva Lingam out of the sand. It was on the third day of Bhadrapud that the event took place. Just like Haryali Teej, even Hartalika Teej marks the union of Shiva and Parvati. Hartalika Teej is celebrated in hilly and terai regions of Nepal and most of the parts of North India (Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan). Teej festivals are traditionally observed by women to celebrate the monsoons during the months of Shravan and Bhadrapada of Hindu calendar. There are 3 famous Teej occur in the month of July and August i.e., Hariyali Teej, Kajri Teej and now Hartalika Teej is going to be observed on the third day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada and it will be celebrated on 30th August, 2022.
